agn Genetics (formerly Applied genetics network agn) is a small private company located in Davos, Switzerland, doing applied research in statistical genetics, biometry and informatics in animal breeding and human genetics.

It originated as a spin off company from the Group of Animal Breeding of the Department of Animal Sciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich (ETHZ, Switzerland) when the group was reorganized in 2001 due to the retirement of the group leader.

Prof. Dr. Henner Simianer, a former assistant professor at the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart (Germany) and Dr. Chris Stricker, former assistant professor at the Group of Animal Breeding of the Department of Animal Sciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich (Switzerland) founded the company.

Today, agn collaborates intensively with the group of Prof Dr. R.L. Fernando, Department of Animal Science, Iowa State University, Ames, USA. agn  has joint research projects with all major dairy and beef cattle breeding associations in Switzerland. Internationally, agn has research projects in layers withHy-Line Intl.., Des Moines, USA. Previous research partners were Aviagen, Midlothian, UK, Lohmann Tierzucht, Cuxhaven, Germany and Institute for Pig Genetics, Beuningen, The Netherlands and  Livestock Improvement (LIC), Hamilton, New Zealand. Current research projects focus on the use of whole genome information for genetic evaluation and marker assisted selection in cattle and chicken.
