The Netherlands: Increase of organic land and of organic sales in 2009

According to Biologica's Bio monitor 2009, the organic area went up to 51'911 hectares in 2009, an increase of about 1500 hectares compared with 2008. The organic agricultural land now accounts for 2.7 percent of the total agricultural area.
Total turnover with organic products (including catering) was almost 650 million Euros and increased by 10.8 percent compared with 2008. The market share of organic food was 2.3 percent of the total food market.
