University of Catania, Department of Animal Sciences, Italy

The University of Catania UCat is one of the oldest universities in Italy. It was established in the year 1434. The Department of Animal Sciences DACPA (Department ‘Sezione di Scienze delle Produzioni Animali’ ) has 40 academic staff and belongs to the Faculty of Agriculture (500 undergraduate, 100 MSc and 70 PhD students).

DACPA is organised in 4 different divisions: Agronomical Sciences, Agrochemical Sciences, Ecology and Animal Production Sciences APSD. APSD is organised in three main R&D groups, of which 2 are involved in LowInputBreeds:

• Alternative Feed Resources and Meat Quality Group led by Prof. Dr. Alessandro Priolo
• Feeding Behaviour Group led by Prof. Dr. Marcella Avondo
