Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forestry and Fisheries vTI, Institute of Organic Farming, Germany

The Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institute or Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forestry and Fisheries (vTI) is one of four German federal research institutes under the auspices of the German Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV).

The vTI pursues interdisciplinary research in economics, renewable natural resources, climate, biodiversity, and organic farming. Organic agriculture research is co-ordinated by the Institute of Organic Farming (OEL) led by Prof. Dr. Gerold Rahmann.
